About Us

Moonriver believes in fulfilling even the most challenging requests and wishes. As well, there is no specific formula for a wedding - we help you personalize your ceremony and reception based on what is important to you, your likes and dislikes and the dreams you have for this very special event.

Moonriver delivers excellence - excellence in customer service, managing details, providing all inclusive services and most of all, in ensuring your wedding runs smooth, without worry. Moonriver 's organization and planning skills are impeccable.

Moonriver specializes in theme, event/weekend and destination weddings...

Moonriver Theme Weddings ask for your inspiration. Whether a hobby, time period, color, idea, movie or feeling, Moonriver will transform it into your wedding, using the theme as a basis for decoration and other aspects of the ceremony and reception.

Moonriver Event or Weekend Weddings take the typical wedding and translates it into an "event." An event wedding is viewed as "the event of a lifetime" for the bride and groom and budgets are therefore often greater than for those of a typical wedding. Often event weddings span an entire weekend or more, including more activities and events than traditional wedding festivities.

Moonriver Destination Weddings are very similar to the event weddings because more details need to be handled than in a typical wedding. As well, the Bride & Groom are not local to oversee any of the details and can rely, without concern, on Moonriver to make sure all details are handled. Destination weddings often incorporate more transportation, hospitality and coordination.

Testimonials:

"There are so many decisions to make when you get married - one of the best ones we made was to have Melissa be a part of our special day. Without Melissa, and Moonriver Weddings, we would not have been able to enjoy our wedding and reception nearly as much. Melissa's flexibility to our needs was apparent from our first conversation. When we met her in person we also realized that she was thoughtful, creative, and incredibly organized - which was very helpful since we were doing the planning from 2,000 miles away.

Melissa took our vision for the event and made it a reality. We didn't worry about a single thing! Every planned detail was beautifully executed, every crisis was averted, and Melissa even had time to sneak in a few surprises like fresh fruit and a bottle of water in the waiting room behind the church. Thank you Moonriver Weddings!"

"Melissa - Wow! I could NOT have done it without you. As you know, this is my second marriage. What a difference between my first wedding - where I did everything myself - and this wedding - where I got to actually ENJOY my guests and my food and my new husband. I will tell all of my friends who are engaged or who become engaged to hire a planner. Let me highlight the differences:

BEFORE: The day of the wedding, the florist’s assistant showed up with the wrong flowers AND simply dropped off the bows for the pews. So, 2 hours before my wedding, I was running around trying to get the flower dilemma solved (it never got fixed) AND trying to coordinate getting my make-up done while finding SOMEONE who could put bows on the pews. I had 110 guests - so it was a lot of pews. I also had to get someone to remove the bows after the wedding so that we could return them to the florist. Somehow they were lost and the florist threatened to not only charge us to "rent" them but now to buy them.

WITH MELISSA: I relaxed in my suite at the Broadmoor (which you arranged for me) with all of my girlfriends and my sister - drinking champagne, getting dressed and putting on make-up. I ate a nice meal and enjoyed every minute of the pre-wedding day preps. While I was drinking, YOU AND YOUR TEAM were ironing my dress, meeting with the florist, checking on the table settings, meeting with the wait staff, making sure the sign in table and gift tables were set up and completing the hundreds of little tasks that need to be done before the wedding.

The reception was amazing this time around too.

BEFORE: While I was taking pictures with the groom, my mother was supposed to tell the 110 guests that there were passed appetizers and champagne and cheese trays in the foyer at the hotel. Instead, she had a "mother of the bride" moment and forgot all of this. Later I learned that many people simply left - never to be seen again that day. Others were wandering the halls of the hotel trying to figure out where the reception was. We showed up to a crowd of hungry and angry people. Additionally, when I showed up at the hotel, the Wedding Coordinator there pulled me aside to tell me that the florist did not drop off any flowers or greenery for the cake, so she and her staff had to pull apart the centerpieces to create one themselves. I hadn’t even been able to greet my guests yet before I had a fire to put out.

WITH MELISSA: Since I didn’t have to rely on any family or friends to communicate any messages to my guests, the transition from ceremony to reception was incredibly smooth. She and her team assisted with traffic flow and answered any and all questions my guests had. It was great for them and us to have a "go-to-gal". Also - the cake was beautifully decorated and the greenery looked fabulous. It was amazing to see that it had all come together without any wedding day stress from me or my family.

Rob has two teenaged daughters. When they get married, I can guarantee that we will be hiring you. I will NEVER do another wedding alone again. Why on earth would I spend thousands of dollars for a day that I was working too hard at to enjoy?

Thanks again for everything - it was a heavenly and relaxing day. Rob and I had such a blast that we laughed when we said that we wanted to do it all over again!"
